Travel Chic: Holiday Edition

Fashion FridaysWith summer officially over, the holidays are approaching quickly. Christmas is only two months away people!! With the holidays, comes a lot of travel. Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year always bring families closer together, even if it means hopping on a plane to make it happen.

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we are no strangers to travel. In order to leave the island, we need to get on a plane for at least a few hours. And with Ree just coming back from visiting Holland and England and Bre currently planning her December Colorado trip, we thought it would be fun to share our favorite travel fashion ensembles for the holidays.

The key is comfort and warmth in neutral colors, with a pop of red. While the seasons don’t change in Barbados, landing in Toronto in the middle of December can be quite a shock! A fitted, knit sweater keeps me warm, and a large pashmina easily doubles as a blanket if the plane is too cold.

Rag & Bone Newbury BootsFlats are easiest when traveling, but boots with a large chunky heel are quite easy to walk in and look stylish too. Win-win!

A large, cross-body bag adds a great pop of color to the outfit, and it holds everything needed to make a long flight more comfortable.

I love traveling during the colder months, because it means the temperatures inside the airplane (i.e. cranked up AC) and outside are almost the same. LOL! So I don’t have to carry a bunch of extra layers with me for the plane (like in the summer) that are then peeled off as soon as we land. All I need to be travel chic is my favorite oversized sweater, a pair of leggings, and a few accessories. Done, done, and done! Comfy, warm, and stylish.

Cold weather means it’s boot weather. And I jump at every single opportunity to wear boots! Paired with skinny jeans or leggings, they are perfect for travel. With a long side zipper, I can easily get them on and off for security, and I’ve freed up space in my luggage for other things, like more shoes!

Gwyneth is old enough now to carry most of her much-needed airplane items in her very own kiddie backpack, which means…I get to carry whatever handbag I want! This is a major milestone for me and I’m taking full advantage, because you never know when another kid might pop into the picture;) Well, my favorite of course is my Sofia Coppola LV. The color is gorgeous and it holds tons of stuff. iPad, iPhone, snack, scarf, wallet, you know, all the essentials.

I am loving the pops of red in both outfits, but I am totally swooning over that adorable cross over bag that Ree is sporting.. I am thinking though, I will be traveling in December and I love that oversized sweater that Bre has! I may need to be picking me up one for the plane!

Okay, I’m totally obsessed with the looks you have here–both look extremely comfy and also chic for travel! I am obsessed with the first bright red cross-body bag. I love a good sturdy bag with lots of pockets for flights so I can easily find my passport, wallet, Kindle, books, etc… while also keeping everything concealed. Great fashion sense, girls!

Oh, and stopping in from SITS Sharefest today, hope you are having a great weekend!

Loving both outfits. The booties in the first outfit look really comfy and chic. I love that you have shown two “put together” options. I sometimes wish we would all dress for travel like in the old days when flying was an extravagant event rather than a leisure pants party. 🙂 Thank you for sharing these cute outfits. Have a great Saturday.

Great outfits! As someone who has traveled quite a bit, the necessity of a *comfortable* travel outfit that is still cute -and can be used when you are running around wherever you land – is critical. These are both cute and travel well!

Just stopping by from the creative closet linkup. Anything with a great bag always catches my eye. I wear a lot of neutrals so I love the idea of a pop of color in the bag. I had a coral one in the summer but then traded it for black once fall began to approach. I need to find a red bag. Yours is great!!
