Things I’m Loving Right Now

How was your weekend? Did you watch the World Cup Final? My family and I had a very busy weekend. We went to a birthday party on the beach for one of Gwyneth’s friends (see #5 below) and then to an international World Cup party yesterday at our friends’ home. I think there were about six or seven different countries represented (Barbados can be quite diverse) and about twenty different dishes. But more on that another day (will post my American-represented dessert soon). So because of the busy weekend, I thought why not start the week off with a fun post and share with you five things I’m loving right now?

Things I'm Loving

1. Too Faced Eye Shadow Palettes

I’m a make-up junkie, and while there are so many cool things I absolutely love, right now my favorite product is the Too Faced Eye Shadow Palettes. All the color combos are beautiful, but the really nice thing is that each palette comes with a how-to guide for three different looks. It’s perfect if you’re never quite sure how to apply eye make-up, or even if you just don’t have the energy to make your own eye shadow color combinations. These guides are so easy to follow and the result is gorgeous!

2. Rose Mint Tea

Ever since I visited Istanbul last June, I’ve been so in love with tea, and specifically loose leaf teas. I stumbled upon the Spice & Tea Exchange in Old Town Alexandria last time I visited my parents in Virginia, and the Rose Mint Tea is definitely my favorite. It’s light, but rejuvenating and the smell is just delicious.

3. KIND Dark Chocolate, Nuts and Sea Salt Bars

These could possibly be the best things ever! Sweet, salty…it’s perfection! Don’t ever try to find them though after I’ve visited a city, because it’s likely I’ve scoured and grabbed every last one to take home to Barbados;)

4. Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage

Something happened after my daughter was born, I developed these ginormous bags under my eyes. Perhaps it was from the lack of sleep of having a newborn, but a year later when she was well into sleeping through the night my puffy eyes were still there. Thankfully, I received a free sample of this de-puffing eye serum from Clinique shortly thereafter, and I’ve been using it ever since. I have very sensitive skin and, unfortunately, can only use very light products on my face. Creams are a definite no, so too are many layers of skin care products, which seems almost inevitable as I age. This product though is fantastic, because it’s incredibly light and feels like I don’t have anything on my face at all. I put it on first, before my moisturizer and make-up, and it’s just wonderful. And, of course, no more crazy bags under my eyes!

5. Djeco Toys

Do you have little ones? My daughter is nearly five and just finished her first year of “proper” school (her preschool is with her elementary school so she wore a uniform, had assemblies, had teachers for different subjects…the whole shebang) a couple weeks ago. And with school comes birthday parties – lots and lots of birthday parties. There was one month where we went to a different party every weekend. It was crazy! So with all those parties, I find it hard to find unique gifts that the kids (and parents) will surely appreciate. But then I found Djeco! Djeco is a French company that makes beautiful vintage-like toys (mostly wooden), and, in all my time as being a mom, I’ve never seen anything like them. There’s a small toy shop here in Barbados that sells their toys, but luckily, you can find them on Amazon! Yay! Every birthday, we show up with something from Djeco and the kids just love them – puzzles, crafts, pirate ships, castles, and REALLY cool pirates and princesses. They have something for every child up until about the age of 10. So if you are looking for something for your next birthday party, the holidays, or just something special for that little chickadee in your life, Djeco is a must.

And because I love them so much, here are a few of my favorites and a small sampling of what they offer:
