There are 171 days until the NYC marathon. This will be my husband and I’s second time running, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m kind of freaking out.

When we ran in 2011, it was amazing because everything was new – the training, the spectators, the roads and my expectations. My goal was to just cross the finish line. But now, I know what it takes to run 26.2 miles – the training, the pain, and the incredible dedication needed to complete the race is unbelievable. So I know how tired I’ll be half way through training, where for a couple weeks I dread getting up in the morning; and I know how much pain I’ll be in when I reach 20 miles and realize there’s still 6 miles left.
So not only do I know what’s coming, but now there’s a big difference between this year and the last time we ran. This time we have a baby at home (Gwen was two when we trained for the last and sleeping through the night), AND this time we both want to improve our times.
Call us really committed or just plain crazy but, whatever it is I have to get over my fears and pull my $hi# together because training begins June 29th!!!
