One of the things I firmly believe every woman should experience in life, and if possible it really should be an annual event, is a proper girl’s weekend. Since I met my besties 11 years ago, we’ve made a commitment to get together at least once a year. We met each other in the Cayman Islands when we were all living there for work, but shortly after, one moved away, then another, and then another. Before we knew it, we were in three different countries! So this annual trip not only keeps our friendship alive, but it helps us keep our sanity when life sometimes gets crazy, busy. No kids or husbands allowed; just ladies, cocktails, and a weekend filled with relaxation and fun! #love a thousand times over.
The Cataract Canyon stretches along 100 miles of the Colorado River through Utah and is truly a remarkable place. My husband and I visited Moab, UT and embarked on a 4-day, 3-night rafting trip down the river. We covered the entire 100 miles on nothing but a raft. We slept under the stars (without tents), hiked plateaus, swam through rapids, paddled our way through white water, and met incredible people.
Three weeks ago I left for my first trip to California. The Mr. had to go for some meetings, so we added a few days on to the beginning of the trip and met up with some friends in Sonoma. Our goal: to eat, drink, and have a ton of fun. Mission accomplished!
It’s been seven weeks since I said goodbye to my island life and moved back to Canada. I lived in paradise for five and half years and by the time I left, I had built an amazing life for myself. It wasn’t easy, starting over in a foreign land, but I was proud to say that I was an expat. It was like a badge of honor!
Bre and I have already shared our Top 10 Reasons to be an Expat. It’s a rewarding and life changing experience! However, being an expat means that the time will come when you have to pack up your things and go back home, aka repatriating.
My husband, daughter (aged 6), son (aged 14 months), parents, sister-in-law, her fiancé, his two kids (aged 5 and 8), and I just spent 10 days at the most magical place on earth! We went to Disney World and visited Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs. It was quite the holiday!
To me, spring has always represented a time of renewal. The snow is gone, the sun is shining, and there’s a strong desire to start fresh. There’s a reason it’s called spring cleaning after all! This year, my spring renewal will be slightly more epic than years past. Why? Because next month, my expat days are coming to an end and I’ll be leaving Barbados after 5 1/2 years. I’m moving back to Canada! More specifically, I’m moving to Toronto!
