Scrapbook: New York

I love, love, love New York. So I was especially excited to be able to show Jackson around for the first time!

We did all the usual things one must do in New York. Started off with a Yankees game, that’s my lovely sister-in-law in the photo with Gwyneth and I below.

Of course, we indulged in people-watching-cafes, farmers’ markets, and delectable food. He was brilliant at all the restaurants. He calmly slept while Gwyneth, the Mr., and I tried out several different places.

We stumbled upon Dîner en Blanc. It’s the latest flash mob craze, which brings white-clad New Yorkers to a random location on the day of the event for an Instagram-ready, monochromatic, pop-up picnic. Pretty cool to see! The pic below only captures about a quarter of the crowd. Thinking about it now I should have taken a panoramic photo…next time;)

Have I mentioned before how much I love running in NYC? The west side pathway was kind to me, and I even did a little sightseeing along the way.

While the boys roamed SOHO for the afternoon, Gwyneth and I stopped by Broadway to see Finding Neverland. I’ve only seen a few episodes of Glee, so I’m not naturally a fan, but Matthew Morrison was fantastic, Scottish accent and all. The little boys though who played the Davies children stole the show – wow to their performances!

I have to say the highlight of the trip was seeing U2 at Madison Square Garden. It was a little strange to see Bono as a blond, but the show was excellent regardless. I’m sure he’ll go back to being a brunette soon enough – lol!

We spent one day at the Natural History Museum and both kids fell in love with the dinosaurs. How could you not? We’ll actually be heading back here for Halloween this year. They throw a great trick-or-treat party for kids, so I’m super excited.

We made a day trip out to Long Island to visit with my husband’s side of the family, and had a great time. Gwyneth adored seeing all her cousins!

The entire trip was wonderful, as you can tell from our silliness and abundance of selfies. Can’t wait to be back in October for the marathon and a few days of city fun.

What do you love to do when you’re in New York? Ever participated in a flash mob?

I’ve always wanted to visit NYC. So many great movies have been shot there that it increased my curiosity to see it in person. Concrete jungle where dreams are made of. 😀

I’ve never been to NYC but I’m sure I’d love it. Your photos look great!! One day I will! As for the Diner en Blanc, Niagara-on-the-Lake has it’s own version called Colours of Summer, and it happened last weekend. I have yet to participate in it, but it sure sounds like fun!

I was just in the city last night, meeting up with some girlfriends for drinks… I can’t ever get enough, though it’s so different now that I don’t work there. I think I can appreciate it in a whole new way.

I have never heard of this flash mob–I’ve always wanted to stumble upon one. What a great experience! And love that you took in a baseball game. A NYC must, for sure!! Glad to hear you had such a great time–your photos are spectacular! XOXO

Running in Central Park is so much fun. Last time I had the chance I ran around the entire park and it was so cool to see all the different neighborhoods and people along the way.

I haven’t been to New York in over ten years but I do remember loving the Broadway shows. I went to quite a few while I was there. I also remember the shopping. LOL It’s quite different from what we Islanders have over here so I went crazy. 🙂
