Drinks by the Fireplace

Last night I had a cup of hot cocoa with my husband. It was rainy and there was a chill in the air that just called for something warm (and sweet) to drink. I know it sounds crazy, but the winters in Barbados (which sadly only lasts 3 months) can actually get cold. Usually it’s only at night, but when temperatures regularly fall somewhere around 85 for the majority of the year, having a night of 70 degrees calls for something toasty to drink.

Drinks by the fireplace - title

In two weeks I’m heading up to DC to prepare for the little one’s arrival, and I have to say, I’m super looking forward to having “real” cold weather for those warm beverages I’m desperately craving right now. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to partake in the gorgeous liqueurs that make hot drinks so yummy, but I will be sitting by my parents’ lovely fireplace sipping away as I count down the days until baby appears. Here are some of my favorite drinks to sip by the fireplace – a few I’m excited to make again and a few I’ve been swooning over…

Red Hot Santatini

~ with only two ingredients, a perfect way to keep the holidays going through the winter ~

Wine Latte

~ a wine latte! ~

FROZEN Drinks

~ still watching Frozen everyday…go ahead, make a cocktail ~

Vanilla Steamer Final~ warm vanilla milk, perfect for bedtime ~

smores hot cocoa~ combining two amazing things together, hot cocoa and s’mores ~

cider final ~ spiced pomegranate cider, absolute decadence ~

What are your favorite warm beverages? Any recommendations for my days spent waiting for baby?

You’re kinda making me wish I could sit by the far today and sip on these drinks. With a waiter to bring them to me, of course. And our house doesn’t even have a fireplace… but we’re going to the mountains this weekend so I’ll probably be making something like this!!
