10 Paleo Recipes for Watching the Big Game

Super bowl paleo recipe

I love the Super Bowl and am so grateful it falls on the first Sunday in February. With the holidays over and winter in full swing (okay, pretend for a second I’m still living in NYC), I’ve always found January and February to be a little depressing. No more decorations, joyful music, or jolly people, and worse we’re all now back to working-all-day work days. Read More…

Paleo Quiche

After weeks of binging on egg nog, shortbread, and more wine and champagne than I care to admit, I’m soooo ready for some healthy food! It’s definitely time to reset my tastebuds, crush my sugar cravings, and start the new year with a bang, or at least with a set of good intentions=) One of my resolutions is to become more consistent with meal planning, and to start doing food prep on the weekends.

Oh So Yummy Cinnamon Rolls!

Bump day icon WARNING: This recipe is not in the slightest, not even a little bit healthy. Well, unless you count the eggs and cinnamon, but everything else is bad, bad, bad. But they are OH SO YUMMY that they must be shared for all to enjoy! So read on if you dare and try not to eat them all in one sitting;)

Okay, now that my fair warning is out of the way, this recipe is to die for. Every year, once a year I make these cinnamon rolls and every year I look forward to them. They are my Christmas!

Truffles are Just So Yummy!

Bump day icon Several years ago, when I was living in NYC and completely enamored with my event planning job, I helped organize a truffle auction and private dinner at an Italian restaurant for one of our high-end clients. It was a luxurious event, and imagine my surprise at twenty-five when I realized the price of fresh truffles. It was quite the shock that a little truffle could cost so much!

Until that event, I’d never even tried truffles. But once I did, I fell in love. Truffles are very similar to mushrooms, except they grow underground. And although buying a fresh, whole truffle is extravagant, there are wonderful ways to enjoy the delicacy at more reasonable prices.

Paleo Butternut Squash Lasagna

Bump day icon Surprisingly, even though Ree and I live on a very small island, we can still get several of autumn’s veggies. Certainly not as many as other places, but we haven’t been left completely void of all things fall. And of the produce that is best in season in the fall, there are a few that we can almost always find here on our teeny, tiny little island – pumpkin, sweet potatoes and, one of my favorites, butternut squash.

A Healthier Butter Chicken Recipe

Bump day icon I’m one of those lucky women who married a guy that loves to cook. My husband’s man cave isn’t in the basement, it’s the kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, I can cook pretty well, but I’m not going to stand in the way of someone who wants to make me dinner every night!

We don’t go to restaurants for dinner that often, and we hardly ever do take-out. We were like this before we moved to Barbados, but living on the island has reinforced our behaviour. While there are some amazing restaurants here, they are very expensive and with a lack of seasons, the menus rarely change. Most of the restaurants have had the same menu for the entire four years we’ve been here!

Tips for the Perfect Breakfast in Bed + Summer French Toast

Bump day icon

I love summer mornings. I adore waking up with a bright, shiny sun and knowing the sky is blue, the clouds are fluffy, and the birds are chirping. I feel more alive and refreshed on these mornings. It’s like the sparkly sun has awoken the world happy. My husband and I are complete opposites in this regard; he’d much rather have blackout curtains and hide in a cocoon of complete darkness. In all fairness, I am a morning person so I enjoy the little things that make the morning special. Summer has a wonderful way of creating the most spectacular mornings. And it’s in these mornings that I love to take advantage of my giddiness – doing something sweet for my hubby.

Roasted Grapefruit

Bump day icon Today, Ree and I are heading up to the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina and spending the weekend at their golf academy! I think it’s fair to say that we are both unbelievably excited about this trip. It took me several days to pack and I’m still not sure I have everything. Golf bag, golf attire for both cold and warm weather (the mornings will be freezing, to us anyway, and the afternoons will be hot), dinner attire, running gear (have to keep up my half marathon training), and I can’t forget to grab a bottle of duty-free wine from the Barbados airport for the room. Yes, we are going all out and BYOBing it! It’s going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

So, since we’re both traveling and spent the last few days in a panic trying to get everything organized, I thought this would be a great opportunity to post something so incredibly easy to make, but that I absolutely love. It’s an amazing breakfast all on its own and is one of my weekly favorites – roasted grapefruit.
