I know what you’re thinking, I can’t possibly eat the Halloween candy. I’m on a diet, I can’t take my child’s candy, I shouldn’t eat sweets…but then reality sets in and you see the candy on the counter, and you think, “well, just one piece.” Then one becomes two and three and four, and then a week goes by and you feel terrible, because you’ve eaten way too much candy! Ahhhh!
I’m officially late jumping on the chia seed bandwagon. I’ll admit it! I had no idea what all the fuss was about. Every time I heard the word “chia” I instantly thought of the Chia Pet commercials and the jingle that went along with it. Cha-cha-cha-chia!
Please note that I am not a nutritionist. I am simply sharing my experience with this program. Consult your doctor before starting any program. This is not a sponsored post.
By now, many of you have probably heard of, and even tried, the Whole30 Program. The Mr. and I have been wanting to try it for a year now (see my previous post with recipe here), but living on an island with very limited access to fresh produce and meat, made it too difficult. Now that we’re living within walking distance of Whole Foods, the time was right.
Glorious days at the beach, staying up as late as the sun, barbecues, ice cream trucks, running barefoot all day, everyday…summer has countless activities every kid loves. But along with those amazing experiences, also comes this one terrible, terrible phrase so many parents here, “I’m bored.”
Two words said over and over again. I’m not really a must-entertain-my-child-every-second-of-everyday kinda mom. I would lose my mind. However, on occasion I’ll throw together a few ideas for Gwyneth and I to do together, and almost always we both have a grand time;) So begins my little blog series for the next couple months – Summer Projects for Kids: Bake A Cake.
Currently, my workout routine has me going to the gym later in the evening. By the time I’m done, I’m hungry and find myself wanting a salty snack as I catch up on tv and relax for the rest of the night. Of course, I don’t want to undo what I just accomplished in the gym, so instead of reaching for the nearest bag of potato chips, I’ve been snacking on nuts.
Easter is just around the corner, which means it’s that time of year when we can enjoy Peeps guilt free! Last year we combined the goodness of Rice Krispies and Peeps to make these colorful treats, but this year we’re going a little more adult. Introducing the easiest holiday cocktail you will ever make – the Easter Peeptini!
Last week I watched an amazing documentary called Somm. It follows a small group of wine experts who are studying to reach Master Sommelier status. Not an easy feat considering there are less than 200 in the world! The Mr. loves to pair wine with food and he’s admittedly quite good at it, but these guys take it to another level entirely!
Of course, we’ve all heard of pairing wine with food, but did you know that there’s a new trend happening that replaces wine with tea?!? Yup, tea sommeliers are now a thing! Who knew?
